Oxbow Writing Project's Youth Activities
The Oxbow Youth Writing Project is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth to find their voice through creative expression and seeing themselves as writers. During the two-week workshop, participants between the ages of nine and fifteen were exposed to many forms and styles of writing and were then given complete freedom as writers. Participants selected and edited their own work to submit to the anthology. The Oxbow Youth Writing Project is sponsored by the Oxbow Writing Project, the University of Nebraska at Omaha chapter of The National Writing Project.
Pen Pals and Spring Break Writing Camp
First grade students at Saratoga Elementary, in Omaha Public Schools, and Creative Writing students from North High School, also in OPS, have created a special bond this school year. Throughout the year the classes have been writing to each other as pen pals. Over spring break the high school students planned and hosted a writing camp for the first grade students. The camp took place at Omaha North High School.
